Bulldog Natural Grooming Shower Gel - Lemon and Bergamot - Eco Product Review
October 10, 2008
I last reviewed Bulldog’s shower gel more than a year ago here. I said I liked it but it didn’t really live up to its title of “Awaken”. This new lemon and bergamot version rectifies this and the smell alone will waken you even on the darkest morning.
Bulldog brand toiletries have the Good Shopping Guide’s Ethical Company tag and the shower gel is free from parabens, sodium laureth sulfate, artificial colours and synthetic fragrances. There are however quite a lot of chemical-sounding ingredients but a good thing about Bulldog is that you can go on its website and download a pdf of the ingredients. So if there’s something you don’t like the sound of you don’t have to buy it. That sort of honesty is what I like about the company.

As a shower gel it works great, fresh and zesty I prefer it that the company’s other shower gel and enjoy smelling it, which is a weird thing to say but it’s true.
The shower gel costs £2.99 for 200ml and is available in the UK from places like Waitrose, Superdrug, Sainsbury’s and Debenhams.
Santaverde Aloe Vera Shower Gel Eco Product Review
October 3, 2008
A new friend to Life Goggles, the Natural Beauty Store sent us one of its products to test - Santaverde’s shower gel, made from Aloe Vera.
Santaverde products are new to me but very interesting as they don’t contain water, but pure fresh aloe vera juice instead. And this aloe vera is certified organic from the company’s crops in Andalusia (turns out it’s southern Spain). The shower gel is made in Germany and carries the country’s organic certification called BDIH and the leaping bunny logo which means it hasn’t been tested on animals.

Anyway back to the shower gel itself. The packing is smart, clean white and blue and the bottle itself is the same. Despite the packaging telling me the gel would be creamy, I still expected it to be clear like aloe vera and quite thin. Turns out it’s creamy so that’s me told.
It smells quite nice too, although I’m not sure what of, not really aloe vera, but still good. It worked well, foamed up quite nice and I’ve been using it for a while so I must like it to get me off the Dr Bronner which I’m addicted to.
Available from Natural Beauty Store, Santaverde Aloe Vera Shower Gel costs £10.75 for 150ml.
