Sources Of Advertising Revenues

This is Part 3 in our series “How To Make Money From Your Blog”. Google Adsense and Yahoo Publisher adverts are fine, however it’s always best not to depend on just one source for your advertising revenue.

Text Link Ads

Google Adsense and Yahoo income depends on the number of clicks you receive on the adverts.
For the security of income no matter how many clicks, try Text Link Ads (aff). The system automatically rates and ranks your blog and sets the price at which your links can be sold at. Text Link Ads receive a 50% share of each link you sell. It is up to the publisher to track how many visitors they receive from your site, you will receive a flat payment for however long they decide to advertise on your site. You can choose where and how to display the adverts, and links are added and removed automatically from a small script installed on your site (or a Wordpress plugin). It’s worth signing up and measuring their benefit compared to other sources of income.

If you wish to buy links on other sites here is a link for $100 in FREE Links, or why not buy a link on Life Goggles?!

AdBrite

AdBrite (aff) is an advertising network that displays text links in a similar fashion to Google. However it is non-contextual and as well as displaying general network ads allows advertisers to buy spots on your site, in “ad zones” that you can set up.

BlogKits

Blogkits is a Cost Per Action (CPA) ad network, that is the publisher (i.e. you) only gets paid when someone who has clicked on the ad then completes an action, e.g. they buy something. You can see an example at the bottom of every post, where it says “Help my blog?”

Chikita Ads

Chikita (aff) have a variety of tools for you to place adverts on your website. This includes eMiniMalls, that according to their site they “present Web publishers with a feature rich service that offers online product merchandising, a dynamic recommendation engine and robust comparative shopping information in one solution”. Essentially adding a graphic, interactive advert on your page linked directly to suppliers they can provide another good source of revenue. There should have been an example below, but the script seems to act a little funny with our template. Have a look at their website instead. Update: This now works:

These ads can set to be contextual by relating them to the title of your post. However it is against Google’s terms and conditions to have two contextual advertisers on one page, so if you are using Google Adsense it is best to set these to be non-contextual, as here, or use them on a page where Adsense is not being used.

Overall

It’s best to try out a few different sources of advertising revenue. Relying on one source is never a good idea, however advertising heavy pages can be off-putting. A later post in our series will explain how to automatically test the effectiveness of different adverts in the same location.

Part 4 is now available.
