Monave Mineral Makeup Eco Product Review

August 7, 2008 · Written by Joel

Monave are a great little company that make mineral makeup that is micro-formulated using the highest quality minerals and botanicals sourced the world over. Naturally preserved and completely free of irritants, Monave mineral makeup is weightless and incredibly long-wearing.

Also called bare mineral make-up or loose mineral make-up, the loose mineral powders can be used as eyeshadow, eyeliner, lipgloss, blush and nail polish. Not being the best person to try make-up, I got a woman to do it for me (very sexist I know, working from home I could have got away with it too), but I thought it best to bow to experience.

Monave with eyes closed

I was told that they take a little bit of getting used to, but work well and look good. They also have an impressively wide range of colors and shades to match your particular skin tone and coloring.

I’ve never spent much time on a make-up website before, but Monave have almost everything you would want to know about their products, and mineral make-up in general. They have a full list of ingredients, so I won’t repeat them here, but for people who know about such things, they do EXCLUDE dyes, lakes, carmine, synthetic fragrance, talc, bismuth oxychloride, petroleum derivatives, sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate, methylparaben, propylparaben, UREA, and other ingredients that aren’t so good for you. They’re especially good for those with sensitive skin apparently, their FAQ can tell you more.

You can get a sample set to see if it’s the kind of thing for you. Being based on minerals they’re vegan, and also, with the exception of one product, gluten-free. If you’ve tried Monave, please let us know what you think.
